Colliers was founded in Ottawa in April 1992 by forming a new company in partnership with three established brokers from three different firms operating in the community at that time. The intention from the outset was to create a new commercial broker platform in Ottawa that uniquely combined the culture of a boutique firm with local management and market expertise with the global strength and reach of an international organization. The focus of the new partnership was to foster growth through the exercise of four axioms being integrity, teamwork, cooperation and fun in the delivery of commercial real estate services. Operating under the Colliers trade name the new company partnership, in less than three years, grew the business into the largest commercial real estate broker in the Capital. In 1997, the Ottawa partners sold their shares by way of a planned integration of the new Ottawa firm with Colliers International, making the Ottawa office a wholly owned enterprise of Colliers Macaulay Nicolls. Today that enterprise is the number one Commercial firm in Ottawa. Two of the original founding partners remain with the office that now has 17 brokers and 6 support staff.
