SACRAMENTO, Calif. (March 20, 2009) – The Sacramento Chapter of the Association of Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) held its annual Broker of the Year Awards on March 19th at the Sacramento Convention Center. The festive gala was hosted by local television personalities Kelly Chapman and Cody Stark and was attended by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson as well as an estimated 700 commercial real estate professionals. Colliers International came up a big winner, taking top awards for the Industrial and Retail Categories, as well as winning the prestigious Broker’s Choice Award for the fifth consecutive year. Broker of the Year Awards are based upon broker production levels for the previous year, with only the top professionals in the field eligible for nomination. “I think it’s a testament to the astounding level of talent that Colliers has in place,” said Managing Director Bill Coyle. “The fact is that even in today’s weak economy that our brokers have consistently managed to be the top producers in the Sacramento region really is phenomenal.” As leaders of Colliers International’s Central Valley Industrial Group (CVIG), partners Senior Vice Presidents Mark Demetre, SIOR, and Bill Niethammer, SIOR, won the award for 2008 Industrial Broker of the Year. Demetre and Niethammer previously won this award in both 2005 and 2006. In addition to these wins, Mark Demetre was the recipient of the Broker’s Choice Award in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. “Winning an award like this is an even greater honor because it’s coming from your peers and competitors in the industry,” said Demetre. Senior Vice President Bruce Hohenhaus, SIOR, was awarded the Broker’s Choice Award. The Broker’s Choice Award is an award that is voted on by the brokerage community and is designed to recognize the broker, who, in the opinion of his peers exemplifies the highest standard in good brokerage practices, conducts himself in a professional and honest manner and is enjoyable to deal with. "It's very important to have the trust and respect of your peers," said Hohenhaus. "Winning this award acknowledges the hard work and ethical manner in which all recipients of this award have exhibited during the course of their day to day interaction with clients and other agents. I am honored to be recognized and included in this elite group of individuals." This marks the fifth consecutive year in which a Colliers International broker has been awarded the Broker’s Choice Award. Past winners include Bruce Hester (2007) and Mark Demetre (2004 – 2006). Also nominated for Awards and receiving special recognition were Ron Thomas, SIOR, and Kevin Partington, SIOR. Ron Thomas and Kevin Partington are both Senior Vice Presidents with Colliers International and lead Sacramento’s Capitol Region Office Specialists (CROS) Team. Both were nominated for Office Broker of the Year. Senior Vice President Matt Lofrano is an industrial broker with Mark Demetre and Bill Niethammer’s CVIG Team.
