Area affiliates of Colliers International enjoyed a golf tournament Sept. 14 while raising $10,000 for the Warrior Foundation Navy League, which assists seriously injured troops who are assigned to Balboa Naval Medical Hospital or
Camp Pendleton.
The Country Club of Rancho Bernardo was the host course, and a buffet dinner and awards ceremony awaited the 112 golfers.
According to Jim Zimsky, senior managing director at Colliers, "All donations go directly to these military heroes and their families. We have been honored to be a part of this fundraising effort for three years now."
Sandra Lehmkuhler, executive director of the Warrior Foundation Navy League, said, "All the guys wanted was thanks, but Colliers International knows they can
do so much more."
The Warrior Foundation Navy League's focus this season is on reuniting recovering military with their families.
Last year, the foundation bought 220 round-trip tickets for military men and women to fly home and "wake up in their own beds on Christmas morning," Lehmkuhler said. Additionally, eight families were flown to San Diego, because
their doctors could not release them in time for Christmas.
