Colliers’ 7th annual North America Parking Rate Survey indicates the cost to park continues to increase. This follows the same pattern as last year as parking owners and operators respond to a robust business climate and rising office occupancies to push parking rates higher. Halifax's downtown remains a relatively cheap place to park averaging $150 per stall per month, however the monthly parkade rate has escalated $10 per stall per month over the past year. Parking is so tight that some landlords have limited new renters to tenants who occupy premises in their portfolios. Halifax is facing parking challenges and with no new parkade development in sight, the challenges will continue. Mass transit has improved with the introduction of LINK service, a suburbs to downtown bus system at a higher fare and fewer stops. This type of service has proved very popular and the success has created demand in other neighborhoods. For a complete copy of the North American report, please click the icon below.
